Working Principle: The chlorinator uses electrolysis to decompose the salt (NaCl) in the swimming pool water. At the titanium anode, chloride ions (Cl⁻) are oxidized to generate chlorine gas (Cl₂), and the generated chlorine gas reacts with water to form hypochlorous acid (HClO). Hypochlorous acid has strong oxidizing properties, which can kill various bacteria and viruses in the pool water, thus achieving the purpose of disinfection.
Material and Coating: It adopts a composite structure of a titanium substrate + precious – metal oxide coating. Titanium has extremely strong corrosion resistance and can remain stable even in acidic, alkaline, and chloride – ion – rich pool water environments. The coating is usually ruthenium – iridium, iridium – tantalum, or other precious – metal oxides, which can reduce the over – potential of the electrolysis reaction, improve the electro – catalytic activity, and enhance the efficiency of chlorine production.
